Co-labs Coworking was first started with a prototype at Utropolis Glenmarie in 2017, a humble beginning that taught us invaluable lessons about customer service, user experience, optimal space size, repurposing existing resources, and more. 7 years later, today, we stand proud with seven locations with a total of 167,000 sq ft in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
Our style has been opening the space without much fanfare however, opening Co-labs Coworking The Five is momentous for us.
The evening began with an inspiring speech from our Director Benjamin Teo, who unveiled ambitious plans to double Co-labs’ space to a remarkable 300,000 sq ft across Malaysia within the next two years. Co-labs Coworking was in fact set up to provide opportunities for collaboration and community. Our unique DNA with property development as our core competence meant we have a strong understanding of human psychology and space use. With this knowledge and couple with our experiences with existing Co-labs location, we optimize and design Co-labs Coworking The Five for community and collaboration.
As we understand each space is unique, we have been able to work around its strength and add value to the workspace. The design team skillfully blended our signature warmth of wood that can be found in every Co-labs Coworking space and the Malaysian heritage of batik with the industrial feel that comes with The Five. We’re also proud to play our part in repurposing a 30-year-old building by infusing new design and energy that will help attract younger talent into the workspace while playing our part in the country’s sustainability green agenda.
Co-labs Coworking The Five sets the tone for all future Co-labs spaces. This coworking space is located directly next to the Semantan MRT station to encourage sustainable commuting and enhance accessibility. The provision of 24/7 air conditioning units is a practical solution for accommodating individuals and organizations working across different time zones, reflecting the growing trend of remote and hybrid work models. Furthermore, empowering members with independent control of these units encourages mindfulness towards energy consumption while promoting sustainability within the workspace. Co-labs Coworking is committed to supporting local businesses, especially within the vicinity of the workspace. Guests were treated to delectable cookies from All About Chew and luxuriously creamy gelato from Paolo Paolo, fostering a sense of community and connection among attendees and members.
