A Day in the Life of a Community Intern at Co-labs Coworking

Today marks my 9th week as an intern with the Community Development team. My day-to-day schedule is never dull, as it is always filled with new and exciting tasks. Our team organizes different types of community events every month, which keeps things fresh and engaging. So let’s take a look at what my days have been like throughout my internship journey!

My day usually starts at 8AM when I leave home to begin my commute. Getting to work is always convenient because most Co-labs Coworking locations are directly connected to the train station. As a community intern, I travel across different Co-labs Coworking locations depending on the events planned for the day, though my designated base is Co-labs Coworking Damansara Heights.

To start off my morning, coffee is mandatory to keep me awake throughout the day, and my go-to order is the Oatside Spanish Latte from Zus Coffee. Whenever I am working from Co-labs Coworking Damansara Heights, it is a must to get my pastry fix from Qra. Their cinnamon twist is my go-to – soft as a cloud and rich in flavour. One of the perks of being a Co-labs member is enjoying discounts through our partnerships, which makes my daily coffee habit much easier on the wallet!

After picking up my goodies, I head into the office, get comfortable, and dive into my tasks. Having the right setup makes it much smoother to get into the flow and power through the day.

Every week, the community team would conduct a meeting to brainstorm our event lineup, and one of the recent ones I worked on was an #ArtLab Therapy on Trinket Tin Making. From setup and teardown, this was the first event I officially conducted. It wasn’t just about decorating, but also about promoting sustainability and encouraging our members to learn decluttering practices. It’s always such a fun time running these events and discovering the LabFam’s hidden creative talents!

After a few hours of zoning in my tasks, here comes my favourite part of the day: lunch break! When I am working from Co-labs Damansara Heights, I am spoiled by so many options of good restaurants and cafes nearby. My personal favourite is Pizza Mansion. Sharing pizza with my colleagues, and indulging in my all-time favourite, their Magic Mushroom pizza, definitely heal me mentally!

You know what they say: there’s always room for dessert! My go-to spot for sweet treats is Paolo Paolo. With 50% off, I can enjoy their gooey waffles topped with chocolate ice cream – my favorite combo.

After treating myself to such a hearty meal, I head back to the office to continue work and prep for our upcoming events, which includes doing inventory check and ordering materials needed for our next events. Not only that, after an event is done, I usually start preparing a post-mortem deck to see what can be further improved in our future events. This is to ensure the quality and flow of our event is consistent at all times.

Before I know it, it’s already 6PM – and no, I don’t head straight home! I love doing something active after sitting in the office for 8 hours, so off to the gym we go. My go-to is F45 Damansara Heights since it’s super convenient and close to the office. But one of the cool things about being part of Co-labs is that wherever you are, you’ll find great fitness perks nearby — like Babel in TTDI or CHi-X Fitness in The Starling Mall, both of which come with exclusive discounts for Co-labs members.

I try to make the best of my daily routine as an intern at Co-labs Coworking, especially with all the benefits that come with being part of the community – I don’t want to miss out on any of them! Outside of work, I make sure to have fun during the weekends, whether it’s playing escape games at Breakout with friends or joining Co-labs’ monthly #OutOfOffice series such as outdoor yoga.

And that’s basically what my daily life looks like as an intern at Co-labs Coworking. Every day here feels like a new day, with fresh experiences and opportunities waiting!
